How ready is the Church?
People are looking up to Heaven each time the World is shaken mysteriously or by forces that are beyond human comprehension. Naturally, fear is the major factor that draws people closer to God, and anytime a man is threatened by incidences that could lead to death, they go down on their knees and many likened it to the coming of Christ. Though Jesus foretold many of the signs that portrayed his coming in Matthew 24:5-6 he said “for many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet”. You will note in the verse that Jesus said rumors because his coming is unpredictable. It is only known to the Maker of all things.
When is Christ Coming Again?
Jesus said in Matthew 24:36-44 that only God the Father and the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth knows the time and season that He shall be returning. He likened it to the days of Noah when the Lord visited the Earth with water after resounding warnings to make the People get ready. So Jesus said:
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
Is the Church prepared for the second coming?
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him” (Matthew 24:43)
In first Thessalonians 5:1-3, Apostle Paul wrote to the Christians “now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. The unpredictable coming of the Lord was also resounded by John in Revelation 3:3 that says that “remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.”
Is there a Standard for Christianity?
Jesus came as Man to prepare us and set a standard for eternity. In 1 Peter 2:21-25 it reads “for you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.” When the people in Antioch noticed the lifestyle of the Brethren (the Church), they concluded and called them Christian because they found out that they were like Christ Jesus because the Brethren lived a life that reflected Christ. (Acts 11:26)
Christ is coming for a Spotless Church
Christ is coming for a spotless Church (Ephesians 5:27) and that is why Satan is fighting hard to swayed Christians with messages of assimilation associations but the Bible warned in 2 cor 2:11 that Christians always be on the alert otherwise, Satan will take advantage of the time and season.
The eternal Church of Christ shall be a spotless one for God is holy and everything about Him is holy. In your opinion, is the Church ready for the second coming of Christ?
